So I just received my acceptance email (packet soon to come) to Tulane Law. I am really excited because I want to practice Maritime Law and they are one of the best in the world. I've looked into post-grad work and it seems that all the big firms have partners who went to the same undergrad/law school. That said, I am researching maritime law firms in New Orleans.
To be an attractive prospect for them I assume I need the following:
high GPA i.e. top 5-10%
member of law review
member of moot court
I know school will be difficult and I want to focus primarily on grades my first year. Is there anything else that most people regret not doing their first year that precludes their participation in something in year 2 or 3? Like should I join this club/organization in order to become an officer in it by 2L or 3L year? Stuff like that.
Please advise =)
