Is Law School a jungle?
« on: June 20, 2012, 06:53:45 PM »
Is Law School a jungle?  I've heard it before.  I went to Gould School of Law back in '07, but I dropped out.  And now I'm back in the race.  I plan to take the LSAT again.  Although I didn't think about it back then, I am beginning to wonder if it is an apt comparison.

Is Law School a jungle?

Nathaniel:

Depending upon your definition of jungle, yes.  But, with the right approach and tools, it can be a rewarding trip.

I had to post, by the way, as a certain book is titled The Young Lawyer's Jungle Book.   = :   )

Right; everything is a jungle.

You just have to learn to walk around like you are king/queen.

Interesting.

Upton Sinclair wrote "The Jungle" about factory life and wage slavery in early 20th Century U.S.

compensate workers equitably in exchange for labor.  For example, minimum wage laws.  It's a topic I don't know a whole lot about, but I figure that's the case.  I wonder what the conditions are like in Chicago nowadays.  And whenever I think of The Jungle, I am reminded of "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns 'n' Roses and I wonder if there's a thought connection.  And have you seen the music video for "Welcome to the Jungle"?  I think that's thought provoking.  What do you think?
