Typo on personal statement. Re-send?
« on: November 06, 2011, 08:52:06 PM »
After editing/changing/re-working my Personal Statement about 20 times I made the common error of memorizing what I wanted to say and didn't read it carefully enough to catch an obvious error I noticed a few days later...after submitting a few of my apps.

In the middle of a fairly long sentence I wrote:
"...stuck with me because I knew I while I wanted to be..." instead of
"...stuck with me because I knew while I wanted to be..."

Fortunately this seems to be the only error I made and I am very happy with my PS otherwise.
This looks to be a pretty obvious error but doesn't seem to indicate much more than failure to catch a small error, after all it is only one letter.

Should I take the time to contact the school and re-send a new version or just hope that they think little of it/possibly miss it?

Don't sweat it.  Resending or calling will make you seem like the mother of all OCDs.  Such a small error won't hurt you in a process where they read (skim) over thousands of personal statements per cycle.
"Thank you for inviting me, Mrs. Palin." "Thank you for cutting your mullet, Levi."
