Kent $20,000 (3.25) or DePaul $15,000 (3.20)

I've been accepted to both schools with differing amounts of money.  I am not sure where to go.  I do not currently plan on doing IP law. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I would base my decision on which school is offering the most money, in this case Kent. In addition, Kent is a stronger national ranking school and has better facilities than Depaul. Either way they are both very strong regional schools so you dont lose anything by going to Kent over Depaul.

Are the 3.25 & 3.20 the GPA conditions required to keep the scholarship?  These conditions make a HUGE difference and you should base your decision on how stringent the conditions of the scholarship are. The schools are in the same location, priced equally, and have roughly the same prestige.

According to lawschooltransparency.com, which reports actual salary numbers unlike U.S. News or the ABA Depaul seems to have a slight edge on graduates with reported salaries.

You should also look at the curves of the respective schools and see how likely you are to keep the scholarships. You can generally find the curve in any law schools handbook and if the scholarship requires you to keep a 3.25, but only 10% of the class can get a 3.25 then there will be a 90% chance you will lose it.

The GPA requirements seem high, you need consider what your class rank % needs to be to keep them.  Sometimes the GPA is negotiable if you talk to admissions. 

If these are your only two choices, I would make the decision by which school you would want to pay for if you lost your scholarship.  That way, no matter what happens, you will be in the best spot.

I think MikePing is right on.  Those are extremely high requirements and chances (based on percentages alone) are you will lose it, so pick the school that you feel better at.  I have visited Kent but not DePaul, and I am doing a visiting program at Kent next year, while a friend of mine is doing a visiting program at DePaul.  Visit the schools pick the one you would pay for

I would really check into the Kent curve. Ive been hearing a lot of things around Chicago about how Kent purposefully sets their scholarship requirement higher than is possible for their curve. DePaul on the other hand is verrrrrrry committed to their vincentian foundation and with that comes flexibility.
