So, is it worth it?  EIC?  Other positions?

Compared to what? (That is, do you have something better to do your 3L year, and how much of a time commitment is the board position?  Time commitment varies by school and position).

EIC is a big boost.  Other positions are a boost.

Is it worth being EIC or any board member at all if it caused a small drop in GPA?  Like from top 10% to top 15- 20% or something?  Maybe that doesn't typically happen anyway but would you take EIC if you knew your ranking would drop by 5-10%?

Sure.

No.

No.  But there's no way of knowing whether your grades will dip, so I don't think it's worth worrying about.  I had a time-intensive ed board position (always at least 20 hpw, sometimes 40+), and my rank actually went up.
