US Attorney's Office SDNY
« on: December 04, 2010, 01:10:18 PM »
I am currently a 2L and was just offered a summer position at the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY. From everything I've heard, it seems pretty prestigious, but I am just wondering what my job prospects will be like after graduation. A lot of firms hire based on your 2L summer, but the US Attorney's Office doesn't ever (?) hire right out of law school, so where does that leave me? Should I take this internship, or try elsewhere? I would love a career as an Assistant US Attorney one day, but that's not realistic for the near future.

As a 0L, I claim absolutely no credibility.  As an experienced manager, however, I can venture a guess.  If you were interested
in becoming a litigator, I could see how a litigation-type firm could see something positive in the internship with the AUSA.
