leaving Biglaw for MidLaw to become Partner

this is my first post so be gentle.

1. How common is it for BigLaw associates leave to be Partners in MidLaw?

2. Once the person becomes a Partner in the MidLaw firm, is it possible to lateral (after building a book of biz) back to BigLaw as a Partner? Is it a common career strategy?
