Fast admissions decision: good or bad??
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:53:22 PM »
I just found out that my admissions decision has been mailed.  My application was received by Northeastern Law about 2 weeks ago.  I have two theories:

1)  They want to notify those they are offering admission to asap, so that they in turn have acceptances or rejections of offers by prospective students asap and know where they stand in terms of the number of slots left.

2)  They are super efficient in all things, including rejection notices.

Anyone have any experience with this?

No idea with Northeastern, but you could check on lawschoolnumbers to see the normal turnaround.

I had a two-week turnaround with an acceptance at American.  I went to an American accepted students event and found out from one of their admissions counselors that they are reading completely online now which allows them to process apps very quickly.  Maybe Northeastern is doing something similar.

FWIW, I applied to Northeastern over a month ago and haven't heard back.

Depending on your numbers, it's probably either really good or really bad.  It sounds like you got put into either the auto-accept or auto-reject pile...my guess is that since you looked on LSN, you can probably guess which one.  I would say it's unlikely it's a waitlist though
