I think it's pretty darn hard- especially in light of the new curve. Only 5-10% get B- or lower (meaning profs aren't under any obligation to give any Cs at all).

Yup.  My performance was pretty piss poor.  Ever known any one who got a C?

I completely tanked and missed a bunch of issues.  My own fault, I just had a really bad couple of hours.  I only wrote around 8 pages and my average is around 16.

I'm sure I have, I just don't think they admitted it. 
But really, I think the new curve will go something like this:

A: A very good exam, knows stuff
A-: Knows stuff, missed a few things here and there
B+: Basically has it, missed some things
B: More or less understands, missed a bunch of issues
B-: Shaky understanding, but managed to write something marginally coherent
C range: Utter bull plop. Maybe one or two correct assertions.
D and below: You personally insulted the prof's mother. Repeatedly. In person and on the exam.

I hope you're right.  I didn't intentionally insult my professor, but I have a generally irritating and loathsome personality.  Then again, so does he... so maybe that will work toward in my favor.

I mailed in a couple of a real stinkers this week.  Not too worried about it; that's how it goes sometimes.

OP, if you've got more exams coming down the pipeline, stop worrying about it.  Especially in your first semester, you never know you actually did.  So put it behind you--this is crucial.
