Cum. Undergraduate GPA vs. Institution GPA from Lsac report
« on: September 27, 2009, 04:47:05 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if someone knew which GPA law schools look at more closely from the lsac report. Is it the cumulative undergrad GPA or the institution GPA?

I am asking this because I had a bad frosh year at a certain school (2.5 GPA) but transferred to another school and got a 3.5 final GPA. On my Lsac report it says I have a 3.28 cumulative GPA (counting the grades from my horrible first year at that school) but my institution GPA is a decent 3.5. Which one will law schools look at more closely? And should I address it in a personal statement or maybe in an addendum? Any ideas on how to explain?  Is there any school that will consider the institution GPA more heavily?

Thanks for the help!
If you know what my avatar is...you should not be going to law school

The only GPA that is sent is the adjusted.  A 3.2 is excellent based on a 4.0 scale.  Apply to the schools that has the median or average of your GPA as a 3.2.  You will do fine once admitted into law school........

To answer the OP:

I'm fairly certain that admissions committees will pay greater heed to your cumulative GPA.

Look at all his prior posts.  They're all either completely irrelevant to the OP or just plain terrible advice.  Never has one said so much and yet, been so less helpful.
