IU-Indy vs. Penn State HELP!
« on: September 11, 2009, 11:39:44 AM »
I am looking at attending the University of Indiana-Indianapolis. Is this a good school? Does anybody have any thoughts either way about the school? I'm trying to decide between IU-Indy and Penn State. Any thoughts? Thanks

I'm originally from Indiana, and I can tell you that Indianapolis is a great city.  The  school at IU-Indy has a great "health-based" law program.  Although I do not plan on returning to Indiana to settle down, if I did, it would be in Indianapolis.  Overall, I don't know a great deal about the school there, but I do believe you'd enjoy the area.

I know very little about PSU, sorry.

Penn State's social scene is incredible, whether you drink or not. Graduate students complain about the lack of family activities (they're right), but the local theaters, bars and music groups do a great job with the grown-up crowd. The Bryce Jordan Center has also attracted big names like Dane Cook, Bruce Springsteen, and others. As far as academics, I'd say it's a regional toss up. Do you want to practice in the East or Midwest?

The two factors you need to think about are cost and where you want to live.  While both seem to do well in the region where they are located, it will be much harder for you to find a job outside their respective regions.

Penn State, because often times, it's confused as Penn.  But, even if it's not, it's still a great univeristy overall.

Indy? What's that?  India?  Indy music? But, PENN or PENN State!!!!  You see the difference.

Extremely biased opinion here as I attend Penn State, but it's awesome. New law building here is amazing. Also, PSU is definitely on its way up in the rankings, if you're the type who treats USNEWS as the bible. Don't know anything about Indy, but I would have to agree that it comes down to cost and where you want to practice.
