student loans/rent?

I was told by a potential landlord that student loans can direct deposit your allocated rental amount directly to your landlord for you (and that he would only be ok renting to someone on student loans that way) Is that how they do it?
I am new to student loans and am curious if anyone was had that done themselves and how they felt about it. If possible, it would probally be easier that way too.

I've heard of landlords requiring semester rent as a lump sum but never this. I'd probably look into other landlords and places to rent. Worst case scenario, the landlord does something bad and you are stuck or run into major problems because you've already paid. I would not be comfortable with an arrangement like this.

This is a terrible idea.  What if the property is in foreclosure, and this landlord is about to lose the house?  When he does, your rent money goes with him.  As a future lawyer, you should be on the alert for things like this.
