I have a question about appearance in law school
« on: August 14, 2009, 02:27:25 PM »
I normally don't shave for a month, then buzz it down to a 1, and let it grow for a month, then repeat.

I also have extremely long hair (around my shoulders).

In other words, I look like a dirty hippie.  I also wear gym shorts and T-shirts in hot weather and jeans and a hoodie during the winter.

My question is, does appearance (as long as you are not dirty and shower) in law school matter?

Should I cut my hair before law school starts?  Should I change the way I dress?

Do you know of any lawyers or successful male law students who have long hair and a beard?

Thanks

IMO, you should be more concerned when interview time rolls around.

What about internships?  Would they mind?

you look like many of my classmates, and almsot all of my classmates at finals time. Keep the look for 1L, everyone else will be clean cut and uptight at first and the law school chicks will dig your rebel look. Come intveriew time, clean shaven with above the shoulders worked for a few freinds. Others went all A&F and sold out.
*In clinical studies, Matthies was well tolerated, but women who are pregnant, nursing or might become pregnant should not take or handle Matthies due to a rare, but serious side effect called him having to make child support payments.

No one will care how you look as long as you're wearing something clean and you don't smell bad. Interviews are another story, but for class, it's not a big deal at all.

Just don't wear a shirt w/ a political/social cause slogan if you don't feel like going into long debates.   ;D

This depends on the school and your advertised view point, but generally good advice.
