Paralegal/Law Clerk - Earning Potential

What type of paralegal/law clerk has the highest earning potential?  In the the US it seems a paralegal is the same as a law clerk in Canada, thus the pairing.  I am currently a corporate securities legal assistant earning $60k, getting law clerk certification by May of next year.  I am curious if real estate, corporate, litigation, or IP etc has the highest salary potential in biglaw firms.

I know the US Department of Justice paralegals start at $38k to $47k depending upon location. Each year they are given a step raise and col adjustment.
Not sure what experienced DOJ paralegals earn.
