I think the big issue is whether it's possible to study ineffectively. And the answer to that is definitely "yes"! Often folks who are studying 8 hours per day for months are wasting a lot of time. There is definitely a need for a lot of practice, but so many people do every single LSAT and don't do relevant review of the work that they do and don't work on mastering strategies.
8 hours seems like a lot, particularly if you're not breaking that up into chunks. But, whatever is getting you to improve your score.
