Decision advice please!
« on: July 14, 2009, 12:50:58 PM »
Hey Im new here.  I was hoping to get a little advice before I made my decision about which school to attend next month.

I'm debating between Rutgers which is T2 and NY Law which is T3.  I suppose Im trying to figure out if the difference in tiers is really all that important.  I do hope to live in the NYC/ NYC suburban area, but I'm a little worried about not going to at least a top 100 school.  Is it really that important, or is region the bigger issue.

I'd appreciat any help or feedback you would like to give me, Im not asking anyone to make my choice for my, but would love to hear your opinions.

Any scholarships? What are the costs for each?

I'd probably choose the cheaper school.

Agreed. Do not pay full tuition, or anything close to it, at NYLS. If you can get in-state tuition at Rutgers, that's actually a pretty good deal.

NYLS is like 40,000 while Rutgets is 30,000 out state, 20,000 instate, and it describes how to get instate by 2L.  Ny is offoring more scholarship, but even so I think Rutgers is less in the long run.

Rutgers. Cheaper cost of living + cheaper tuition.

Agreed. Also, if you're okay with working in NJ, Rutgers actually provides a pretty solid network.

NYLS is just too expensive and really not well respected in an extremely oversaturated market.
