undergraduate transcript and employers

An employer sometimes asks that the interviewee bring in an undergraduate transcript to the interview.   For anyone who has been through this, how much weight does the employer give to your undergraduate performance?

The only place I've heard of that is with patent boutiques.  Are you the same RD who recently joined the IPL board?
