And I would do it again!  It was great pizza!  Cost me ~20k in SA money, but whatever.  Life is short.

How are you networking?  Drunk-dialing?  Meeting up with people at restaurants?
Totally drunk dialing, LOL.

No, I'm doing a couple of things... First, I know a bunch of people that I used to work with in NYC biglaw - some of those people left my firm, but that also opened opportunities to get a toe into some other firms.

Also, I went to a TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT undergrad, and I can probably count on my appendages the number of people from my undergrad that got Biglaw positions. So I looked all these people up on westlaw, and I just cold-emailed them. A lot of them are glad to help, because they had to jump through a bunch of the same hurdles I am jumping through now.

Finally, I'm taking every opportunity to meet people here in boston - so yesterday I had a resume seminar at a V25 firm here, and got to know a junior associate pretty well.

I don't know if any of this will pay off ITE, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Oh, yeah?  How'd you do the Westlaw thing?  I should do the same with my state school.  Maybe there are some ballers in the Chicagoland area.

Yeah, dood. I know your school. I think it might work - if you get people with school honors (Magna, Summa, etc.) mention that you had a dope GPA. Just be friendly about it, and tell them you are looking for advice, and to find out about their firm. People are generally helpful about this.

You can find people under Westlaw > Investigating People > Attorney Finder; then play around in there. You are smart enough to figure it out.

Something like this:

Dear Mr. [Baller]:

My name is Bearly Legal, and I am an alumnus of [TTTTTTT UG School] - I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2005. I am a rising 2L at Boston University School of Law, and an intern at the [Big Government Agency]'s Office. I came across your profile on the [Mottles &  Boddels LLP] homepage during my preparation for on-campus interviewing later this summer, and noticed that we have a little bit in common.

I am interested in litigation, and worked for over two years as a paralegal at the litigation department at [NYC Biglaw LLP] in New York and the [Government Prosecutor]'s Office. Iím interested in continuing my career at a place like [Mottles &  Boddels LLP]. Would you be willing to share your thoughts about working at [Mottles]? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Bearly Legal

God, I don't know why I never thought of searching for undergrad alums in my preferred market, since I went to one of those undergrads that's worth going to precisely because it has a tight alumni network.  And probably half the ones that didn't go into academia are lawyers.

Thanks for the idea.  I suck at this.  :-[
At least I can f-ing think.

Damn, that's not bad.  If I wasn't so lazy, I would get started today.

I bet there's a ton of lawyers from (Midwest home state) here in Chicago.

Ya, just do it whenever you get the chance. You know I'm a social gunner, so I had to do this. You might not need to.
