In this thread feel free to debate the process by which you feel posters should be banned. 

In the past, ban worthy behaviors have included (but are not limited to):

• Posting other people's personal information on the public forum without their permission
• Personal harassment of other posters
• Racial, religious, sexual harassment of other posters
• Trolling
• Spamming

Zero Content: replying to or creating a thread with nothing of substance; not offering significant advice or contributing to the conversation in any fashion.

Flame Wars (outside of Haterade)

Pornographic photos, or pornographic links without a warning of what it is.

That would have to be on a case-by-case basis. I'm sure there would have to be some balance set between productive and non-productive posting. And if someone's only intention is to be a jerk to other posters, that should become readily apparent.

And, can someone give me an explanation of stuff like this? It appears to be a very long thread filled with copying and pasting, or at best paraphrasing, other websites. Not saying it should be ban-worthy, just wondering what the point is.

the author is obviously sytizophenic and posting to himself, they do it on like 4 diffrent threads, likley tin foil hated as well

Some suggestions, probably not all workable, but off the top of my head:

Add a third moderator

Keep mod personalities separate from posting personalities this avoids someone charging bias because a mod is both a mod and giving their personal opinion on the subject in another thread. A mod personality in my view should be separate from your online personality. You have an advocate posting persona and different neutral judging persona. However this add a bit of secrecy to the process where it at least the current system is transparent enough for one to actually gage is some real bias is going on, so maybe not the best idea.

More notice before banning, or at least notice from a third party that posters could calm it down, like “lets keep it civil.” Of course posters are going to get angry, and unfortunately attack each other rather than the issue at hand, but sometimes this gets so bad its oxox ish. I would gladly give up some freedom of speech to keep the threads from devolving into personal attack after personal attack.

Posting personal information about any poster w/o their consent should not only be deleted immediately but be a permanent ban offense. Outing people is not cool in any way shape or form in my view. The internets can be serious business when people are being googled and stuff. All that being said I also proscribe the notion that you should not post anything you would not admit to or say in person, but most folks can’t check themselves that well. So I say make it a death penlty offense, if for nothing more than to save people from thier stupidity of youth an the "annoymous" internets.

I think that the Off-Topic Area should be left pretty free.  This place would really suck if people only posted relevant/germane posts, by the way.  The zero content rule would probably crush the forum.

I think that posters should probably get 3 strikes before getting banned too.  Even really ugly, offensive comments can be forgiven if the poster repents.  I don't think there's a need for harsh tactics off the bat.

julie can see one warning, maybe, but this fairly bright line:  they know when doing it.  any they probably not care if banned;  just need find another computer for next spam.
