Additional Letters

If your on a waitlist for a school is it ok to send additional letters of recommendation?

i am on two wait lists....one stated that i could send-in an additional LOR....the second school made no mention.  read your letter carefully and follow their instructions.  i am trying to find someone who may have greater insight about the policies at two specific schools to see if there are additional 'diplomatic' steps so as to avoid a negative outcome.
