Get someone else to write it. If the prof can't speak about your work specifically, he will just say some bs about how you're a good student, etc. that is really transparent to adcoms. Wouldn't you rather that LOR not be wasted on someone who will write a mediocre LOR? You must have at least two profs whom you know quite well, right?
