Desperate advice.
« on: May 27, 2009, 07:58:08 PM »
Ok. this is getting a little bit ridiculous. after doing tons of RC practice timed sections and getting at the max 7 wrong on a section (I STILL NEED TO IMPROVE). took a PT today from 6/06 and got destroyed on the RC section.

LG:-0
RC:-11
LR:6
LR:7

I know I need to improve more on LR but when i was taking this i was so out of it. But RC i thought i crushed it but wtf?

that 11 wrong is preventing my score from jumping.. please help..

Could you please state this in plain English?  There were just too many acronyms in that.

unless you're being sarcastic I don't know whats so hard to understand about that.

LR: logical reasoning
RC: reading comprehension

It could depend on the RC passages. Some are obviously more recondite than others.
A bit cliche, but keep practicing, especially the main RC question types; main point, passage structure etc. I'm working on that myself.

FWIW, you're not alone. For reasons that escape me, RC seems to destroy a lot of people. I didn't have a problem with it, AR ate my *&^%, but RC does seem to cause a lot of people some serious headaches.
I'mma stay bumpin' till I bump my head on my tomb.

yeah RC is the most annoying/fickle section. nothing you can do about it other than find the strategy that works the best for you. I found that NOT marking and underlining works WAAAAY better for me.

also i burn out on RC a lot more, so if i am even a little bit tired i do ok in LG and LR, but suck at RC. so what i am saying is dont worry about this one test. you were prob not in your best form/concentration.

you trying do all four passages?  if so, stop.  try doing two and nailing them.

you going over wrong answers until understand what did wrong?  if not, do that.
