good lord, do USD if you want san diego and your parents will buy you a house! usd, from what i've heard, has a pretty strong reputation in san diego. pepperdine is competing with plenty of LA schools plus people trying to crack the CA market (so is san diego, but more people tend to focus on LA since the market's bigger).

i would for sure take USD in this situation. will your parents help you with tuition? your living costs will definitely be lower if they get you a house...

1. No one mentioned anything about a multimillion dollar home?
2. I'm not going to pick a school (which will affect my career) solely on a house. If all things were equal, sure, but that should never be the only reason. That's like saying someone should go to a TTT full ride over a T14 solely because of the cost difference and not looking at any other factors.
3. There's a reason why I initially put costs was not an issue.

But thanks for the two cents. I just wonder if a Cal Western student can truly call anything in San Diego their own, it's USD that owns San Diego.
