Withdrawal on Transcript or Pass/Fail

How bad does having one "W" on your transcript look, and if there is a choice between having a "W" or taking a class Pass/Fail (instead of for a letter grade and knowing that you will pass), which would be better to do if one wants to go to law school?

One W won't hurt you. I think most people take a bad math or spanish or whatever class that they have to bail on. P/F is preferable (especially since you actually get credits for it), but like I said, one W isn't going to hamper you.

doesn't it depend on whether or not your own school counts the Ws against your gpa?
