I think in general, what you actually do during your 1L summer doesn't matter too much, so long as it's legal in nature and you can speak about the experience intelligently afterward.

I would say that even if it did matter, it seems like a decent 1L gig regardless, though it depends on what kind of things they'll actually let you do.
