If you are applying to, say, 5-7 schoos, do you need to have 2 x however many schools you are applying to in references? Or can you just ask 2 reference people to make a copy that could be submitted to any school? Are the references pretty standard across all law schools, as far as what is to be included? Thanks!

you can just get the 2 general letters of reccomendation.  they get sent to LSAC, who distributes them to your schools.  if you have references who can give you a target letter of recommendation to a particular school you can do that as well... that usually means that the person went to that law school or has some other connection with it.
