Ks: Best Subject Ever?

The doctrine is straightforward and fits together in an incredibly satisfying way; the subject matter is near and dear to everyday life and your conceptions of fairness; and the policy isn't needlessly ivory tower (*cough* Crim and broken windows *cough*).

And let's not forget the awesome cases!  See, e.g., Parker v. Twentieth Century Fox; Mindgames; Carcill; Ricketts; Chicago Coliseum; Lumley; Alaska Packers; Raffles; and my personal favorite, Frigaliment, a famous case about the definition of a chicken.

It's a non-stop hit parade.

The professor affects this so much.

I had a drag of a Ks professor- he managed to make even interesting cases boring. Monotone lectures.
I had way much more fun in torts. Lighted squibs and spring guns FTW!

i have no idea what the first quote is from, but i assume the second quote is from the case about the tomato cannery (specific performance case?  can't remember the name).

but i can support this thread.  Ks was BY FAR my favorite 1L class.  pretty much everything the OP said.  all the doctrine builds upon itself, none of the material is really disconnected from any of the other stuff.  it all just works together nicely once you get to the point in the course where it all clicks. 

and what about Vokes v. Arthur Murray dancing company (i think that was the name)?  that was another entertaining case.

I agree with this. My Ks class was a drag because of the prof.  Torts rocked though.

Curtice Brothers is the tomato case, I think.  It's about specific performance (the court orders it).  Our injunction unit had Van Wagner (holding unique qualities allow for specific performance, though damages will suffice in that case), and Lamley v. Watkins (holding specific performance generally not ordered in personal service cases, as the court can't follow up on it).

For the cow, I'm guessing it's the famous mutual mistake case, Sherwood.  The two parties think the cow is barren, whereas, in actuality, it's pregnant.  Whoops.
