acceptance etiquette

I have been offered a summer job that I intend to accept at a large firm. The offer letter gave no specific way of accepting the job. I'm thinking just call the person who sent the letter (the person in charge of hiring summer associates). From someone who has been through this, is there any certain etiquette that is customary?

I called to accept my position.  I've heard of people sending letters, but I thought calling was better because I had a few questions for the firm and they also had a few for me (like start date, etc.).

Call them and accept.  Send a follow-up thank you letter to memorialize your acceptance.  Congrats!
