'On Hold' at Columbia. what would be my chances??

received 'on hold' by snail mail.

i know it means 'defer' and probably better than a waitlist.

does CLS give out many 'on hold's?

what would be my chances?


fyi, my numbers are 168/3.4

when did you go complete?  truth be told, i would've told you those numbers were auto-reject if anything (we're talking about Columbia Law in NYC, right?), but i'd take the "on hold" letter as good news.  and from what i understand, hold > waitlist.

thnks for the reply. I also thought I'd be auto-rejected.

I went complete on January 5th, and I got my 'on hold' letter

at the end of february.

There are a LOT of holds. Check out all the D's on Law School Numbers, which likely under reports holds because some people record them as Waitlisted.  The good news is that according to past years on LSN a fair chunk of those holds get in.

I'm waitlisted (on reserve) at Columbia...which blows because I really wanted to go there.

Does anyone know what percentage of those hold category eventually get in? In one of the e-mails I received from Iowa, they said they put almost half of their applicants into hold category.  :P
