Schools that take a long time to reach a decision

I applied to a lot of schools and there are still 8 of them that I haven't heard from.  I sent in my apps in late December and they were complete in early October.  It is now late February and I'm getting a little impatient.

What does it mean when schools take a long time?  Does it mean that they are overloaded with apps or are they just taking a long time with my file?

I have a very borderline application when it comes to these schools, so does anyone have any advice?

The schools are:
Arizona
UF
Loyola (L.A.)
Whittier
Southwestern
Notre Dame
FSU
UC Irvine

WAT?  I think you may have flipped those months...



Since you are in UF's Priority pool you should hear back within the next few weeks.  What does your status check say?  What about FSU's?  FSU's turnaround was really quick for me, and I know they were waitlisting some people today.

Since you are borderline I'd submit a LOCI to your top choices.
