Is the personal statement topic of travel abroad, growth, etc totally tired out by applicants and cliche? I seriously cannot think of a more dramatic time on my life, even though I by no means visited a 3rd world country. However, I did have a terrifying experience (several actually). Although i have recognized that I put myself in the position for some of the drama, I believe that it has lead to a great deal of growth. I've "reformed" myself and am a completely different person than 2 years ago, and am a responsible adult...would a law school hate this type of melodrama? I seriously am out of ideas! Help!!!

I've been told travel is to be totally avoided - maybe if you focus more on what you learned, and how you have changed from what you were, you could tie it together.  Depends, too, IMHO, on whether the trip was to a third-world country, or a trip to Jamaica that didn't turn out as expected.  Send it around - you'll get lots of feedback...
