Citing to the record

I have to start my appellate brief but the professor did not explain how to cite to the record. I have a packet with depos, answers, etc. Do I just number them as though it was one document? Thanks.

Using ALWD, which doesn't explain how to set the record up. I know the citation format just don't know how to order the record.

I would double check your materials - they should be ordered for you so that way both sides of the case are citing the same record.
And if you're not sure, your legal writing prof is the person to ask, not us.

There is only one "record on appeal" so my guess is that it should be cited as if everything was one document - i.e. in numerical order.
