Transfer Resume Question
« on: February 04, 2009, 08:37:32 PM »
Hey all, thanks in advance for any responses. My question is; I am now at a T20 school, and did very well this past term, but did very well during my first yr as well, and was wondering if I should still keep my old school GPA/rank listed under my new school info on my resume. I ask because when employers ask for my transcript, it will not include the grades I earned during my first year, but only that I passed each of those classes. Any suggestions? (fyi my previous law school was a t4, but I was 2nd in my class.) Thanks a lot!

do you still have your old school on your resume?  if no, I would leave off old school gpa/rank, as well.

Leave grades for both on until you graduate, at which point take off the grades for the former school but leave the fact that you attended for a year.

I'd say take it off.

That's what I did. and that is what i was told to do.  When someone asks for your resume send both your new and old school's resume.

Obviously for OCI (Last Fall) we left it on--but now you have grades at this new school--so take it off

ILoveCorplaw:

We're in almost the exact same situation.  I did the T4 > T20 thing as well, and got really good grades at the T20 (I'm pretty sure we're at the same school actually).

I'm sort of confused about how I should do this as well.  I've got a job for 2L summer, so I guess the next time I'll be sending out resumes is when I'm applying for clerkships.  Anyone have advice for clerkship apps?  I'll definitely be sending my first year transcript so the judges can see those grades, but should I put the old school on my resume as well?

See my post above.

When still in school, resumes are supposed to have both because everyone knows 2L/3L are on lax-er curves.
