I've heard of people doing it, but I certainly would not recommend it.
Agreed. If you don't have to work, as someone who suffered through bar study this summer, I'd suggest that you do whatever you can so you can start work after the bar.
If you do have to work, I'd definitely try to still fit Bar/Bri into your schedule (evening class or iPod version), stay on top of things (rarely or never miss studying when you've scheduled it), and try to take off as much time in the week(s) before the exam as possible. People have definitely passed after studying while they're working full time, but bar study is stressful enough as it is without layering a full time job on top of it!
