Should I start studying yet? If so, what brand of books to buy?
« on: January 08, 2009, 01:48:17 PM »
Hi again,

I was here around this time last year, and determined that it was too early to really start studying for the LSAT. I'm now a sophomore. I'm not talking about studying for hours a day, I just want to start getting a handle on those logic games when I have some spare time.

You all seem to know what you're talking about- are there any disadvantages to slowly starting to study now?

Also- I was planning on doing self study with Powerscore. Is this alright or would you recommend a different brand?

Thanks!

There aren't really any disadvantages to starting early. Just make sure you don't burn through any recent exams.

See the link in my signature for book recommendations. Self-study with Powerscore "Bibles" is a great idea.

Powerscore bibles and a lot of untimed practice. Time yourself every now and then to see progression, but untimed is best. If you do too much timed prep you really will burn out. Also, like the previous poster said, stick to older exams for now.

Buy the SuperPrep.  If you're planning to take a class or get a tutor, don't buy anything else until afterwards.  Two things you want to avoid:  developing bad habits, and learning conflicting techniques.
