I just took the NC Bar in July.  They test heavily on NC distinctions and the essay portion counts 60% of the grade.  Don't know anything about the SC bar, though I seem to remember hearing one time that you had to take certain courses in law school in order to sit for that bar.  So you might want to check into that if you are considering SC.

If you want to practice in SC AT ALL, you have to take the bar there. SC is not an MBE state, and you will not get reciprocity by taking the exam somewhere else. If you don't want to practice there, take NC's, since it does have reciprocity with other states.
