since no one here has claimed the village (yet), i raise my hand for the coolest part of manhattan.  the village also has more street-cred (and not to mention better restaurants, bars, shopping districts, and definitely more hipsters...) than morningside heights, although i suppose both have come under gentrification attacks from at least one person in the world at at least one point in time over the past decade.
