Do you have to really flub, or can it happen even when you think you've done well?

Depends what your school's curve is.

Here's at least something to look at for UT:  http://www.utexas.edu/law/depts/sao/academics/distributions/freshlawdist082.pdf  Seems like there's probably guidelines that require a small percentage range of Cs for each core class.

Cornell's website doesn't get very specific, just says the mean can't exceed 3.35.  http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/careers/employers/faq/grading.cfm  That's reasonably high so I would guess Cs are given out more sparingly there.

I didn't find anything for GULC.

Cornell has a 3.35 mean?  Holy crap that's high.  They may as well be another school with no grades.......

Yea, word on the street is that everyone at Cornell gets a B+.

Well, GW has a B+ curve also so the mode is a B+.  However, the mean at GW has to be between 3.25-3.27.  A 3.35 mean allows profs to give more A's.

The curve at GULC is approx. 5% get C+s, professors are not required to give out C or lower, though some do.  Essentially you have to try pretty hard to get into that club.
