The hours are more reasonable; the work is way better in most places (I know an alum at the SEC, and he says his work is beyond partner level.  he regularly argues motions in court); and you garner respect and experience more easily.  Sure, the pay isn't as good, but who cares?  In the long term, you stand to make as much or more than your BigLaw cohorts.

Does anyone else feel the same way?  How are you going about 1L?  I'm sending my resume and cover letter, on Dec. 1st, to every federal agency that has counsel, and, of course, the DoJ and SEC.
