Best T14 Campus?
« on: November 17, 2008, 10:46:49 AM »
Well, now that the ball is in the adcomm's hands to decide my fate, I thought I'd waste my time between classes posing completely subjective questions on here. Having gone to a school with a sub-par campus (in my estimation) for undergrad, I am willing to admit that a beautiful campus will probably be a more significant factor in my law school choice than it ought to be.

But anyway, I was careful to put "best campus" instead of prettiest campus or most beautiful campus, because I realize there could be other factors that make a campus great.

So I leave it to you then, which T14 school has the best campus, and why?

From rumors, I'll go ahead and throw out Michigan first. Just looking through the visual tour on their website often makes me want to cry...

I'm at Cornell right now as an undergrad, and it is beautiful, but it is effing freezing.

it is nice.  however, it is not t14.

I have heard good things about the Vandy campus. I'm applying there, just not really sure I can handle the south. I'm very much the northeastern liberal elitist bastard.

Considered Cornell for undergrad abc45, and yea, the gorges do make for an impressive appearance - and I believe I remember that the law school was pretty neat as well. Of course, Ithaca, mehhh....

Campuses I liked: Chicago, Northwestern, Penn, Michigan, Duke

Campuses I did not like: Columbia, NYU, Stanford, Cornell, Harvard

Note: these opinions are primarily based on visits in high school.

Northwestern's Law School isn't by its UG.

Didn't like Harvard huh? When I visited there for undergrad, I remember loving the Cambridge location/Harvard square area. Any particular reason you didn't like it? Although, in all honesty, if they decide that they'll let me attend there, the campus could be located in the heart of Camden, NJ and I'd head right on over.

I know.  I've been to the Law School (I took  my LSAT there).  It has an awesome location and a great view of Lake Michigan.  Northwestern UG is meh.

Awesome.  Good to know :)

Oh, I guess I should mention that Ithaca is in the absolute middle of nowhere. Despite the fact that Ithaca appears to be pretty 'rural,' it is actually an oasis in the shithole that is upstate New York (except for Syracuse, which actually has a decent mall). It's fun as an undergrad, but I don't know if I could stay here as a grad student.

heartbreaker

Columbia's main campus is beautiful. The law school kind of sucks.

Yale is gorgeous, but a little too Hogwarts-y. Same goes for Michigan.

Harvard's law school campus is okay, but Harvard Square is a hellhole where happiness goes to die.

NYU's law school building is beautiful, and the location is fun, but there's not a "campus" per se. Lots of shopping though!

Penn's UG campus is amazing - I'm not sure where the law school is in relation to it though.

Those are all the ones I've visited personally. I've heard that Cornell and UVA are amazing too.
