Thanks. No contract. It's at will.

Department is commercial litigation.

did the firm specify that this is some sort of temp position that may lead to an atty position? otherwise, how is an at-will atty position not a full-time atty position?  my understanding is that most atty gigs are at-will, as opposed to under contract.

I'm not sure how to fit the position in to either of those titles.

This is simply a law clerk position. I am working part-time until the end of school year. That's it.

I do know that the firm is interested in growing. I also know that the last person they hired was their law clerk from the previous summer. He is now an associate.

If the firm needs a commercial litigator after I pass the bar, I hope they will consider me for the position. If not, I will chalk this up as experience and move on.

I just want to make it clear that I am not a lawyer, nor has the firm insinuated that I will be.
