Deferring admission

I have a question about requesting a deferral of your admission.

If I am admitted to X law school with $Y scholarship, and I request a deferral to fall 2010, will my scholarship be deferred as well, or does that go out the window?

Why don't you just ask them?

Because I was hoping there was a standard practice of which certain members of this message board were informed and were willing to share, hence precluding the necessity that I contact each and every law school from which I desire an answer.

Except different schools have different policies, so asking each individual school is probably the method that will produce the most accurate results.

Most schools will not let you carry the scholarship over.  If you get a large, named scholarship (for example, Columbia offers Hamilton and Butler schollys that are worth full or half tuition), that will most likely not carry over either.

A friend of mine a few years back got a full ride to GULC, but they would not let him defer it for a year to work, so he went somewhere else.
