Harvard is encouraging me to apply, but with my numbers is there a point

169, 3.74

I got an email from Harvard encouraging me to apply, but I'm not sure why exactly.  Both of my numbers are below their averages and I'm a white male.  Is there even a blind shot in the dark chance?

Como, that's what I thought.  Those low acceptance rates play a role in rankings do they not?

Going to Vietnam to teach English for seven months before law school
Graduated in three years

So GoJC, thoughts?  Am I interesting enough?  None of these activities are fellowships or research oriented.  It's just crap I'm doing on my own.

While this may be true, he has a shot.  They'd still take him if was very compelling and interesting.  His numbers do not prohibit him from being accepted - however they're not going to overwhelm anyone over at Cambridge, either.

I have a shot at sleeping with Adriana Lima but it's not going to happen.  I wouldn't waste my time applying to Harvard.  Don't get me wrong - your numbers are truly remarkable.  At the same time, I can say with overwhelming confidence that you don't stand a chance at getting accepted unless you are 'truly remarkable'.  I mean infiltrated the FARC, co-founded google remarkable.

Ultimately, it's your choice.  However, I think that you should heed statistics rather than blind optimism.

No way am I heeding blind optimism here.  I was incredibly skeptical from the outset.  I don't think I'm going to apply.  I would had I cured a disease or something crazy, but alas, 'tis not the case.

I think you're borderline insane for letting a LSD poster talk you out of applying to Harvard.

The easiest way to not get in is to not apply.
