Professor v. Great internship, Which LOR?
« on: October 25, 2008, 08:38:39 PM »
Some of the schools I am applying to only accept two letters.  I have LOR's from two professors and one from a White House Staffer who I worked for when I was an intern at the WH.

My former boss wrote me a great letter, and I was lucky enough to do some really cool stuff while working for him.

For the schools where I am limited to two letters, which two should I submit?  Two from professors? One from the staffer and one Prof?

Any input would be great.

Are you still in school? If yes, then do two academic recs.

I am still in school, and that seems to be the general wisdom.

I just still wonder because I was able to write stuff that briefed the President, which is pretty good for an undergrad....

I just feel like everyone is going to have letters from prof's, and this would seperate me a bit.

But am I just wrong?  Is the academic side that much more important?

Let me know if I am way off base.

Law schools are primarily looking for academic potential. Having done cool things is awesome - and I am not discouraging you from sending that third rec in addition to your two academics - but it is not something that will prove your intellectual or academic strengths.

If you're in school and can get two solid professor recs, then do go for it!

Yeah I think you may be right, and most of the schools allow me to send in at least three.

Thanks!
