Dinner Interviews - Order a drink?

Is it appropriate to order/not order a drink if your interviewer does/does not?

Also, this is probably a stupid question, but should I even pretend like I'm going to split the cost?  Or should I not even pay attention to the bill when it comes?  How do you handle that?

What do you do during awkward silences?  Complain about the service?

Order a drink only if they do and you want one.

NO, ignore the bill.  Of course be polite and thank them, but don't offer to pay.

Hopefully there will be no awkward silences, and you should do your best to avoid them by being engaging and being interesting in conversation.  Ask a question if there is a period of silence, but don't sound artificial.

And don't complain about the service.  The person you're with may assume that you're a natural complainer, and not someone they'd enjoy working with.

If they order a drink and you drink, order one.  If they order a drink and you don't drink, don't order one.  If they don't order a drink and you drink, don't order one.  If they don't order a drink and you don't drink, don't order one.
