The Law Pod - Federal Rules for iPhone/iPod
« on: September 29, 2008, 10:11:50 PM »
I'm just starting up as a 1L, so I just thought I'd drop a note about a project I've been working on.

I got sick of going back to my massive federal rules book every time I needed to look up Civ Pro rule 4(k)(1), so I wrote a couple of web apps for iPhone and iPod Touch that contain the various sets of federal rules, divided into civ pro, crim pro, etc..

You flip through the rules just like the songs in your iTunes playlist, and I've found it to be pretty helpful so far in class.  Plus my iPod is a little lighter to take to class.

It's all public information, so they're free to use (you just need a WiFi connection or phone service), so it beats buying a whole book if you don't have to.

Check them out at www.thelawpod.com

I'm still working on a bunch of them to improve the interface, so I would love any comments or suggestions.  Just trying to make this whole law school thing a little less hectic  ;)

If you don't have an iPhone/iPod Touch, all of these web apps will work in Safari as well.  They definitely don't work in Firefox or IE, so this might not be of much help, but there you have it...

Just put up federal rules of evidence.  Federal rules of bankruptcy procedure will be up this week.  :)

Most apps do cost money, but the ones that we have we're giving away for free.  All the apps we have incorporate freely available, public information that I thought it would be helpful for law students to have easy access to.

We have a version coming out next week or so that has a lot more features (searching, cross-referencing, etc.) and will incorporate a lot more information than is feasible to do on a free web app.  Plus, it will be able to run off-line, without an internet connection.  ;)

Federal Rules of Bankruptcy; U.S Constitution + Amendments web apps now available!  :)

Plus, I added an easier installation interface for iPhone and iPod Touch users.

Just released the offline versions of these applications on the iTunes App Store.

They're all $0.99, and I'm donating the profits to fund grants and scholarships for law students.

Just click the link below to check them out.

tag for possible download.

Can it be rotated for a wider keypad (I still can't use the "tall" keypad very well)?
