I think the thing that surprised me most was that everyone is pretty friendly. I was told that was how it was going to be, but I didn't really believe it. I am not from the Midwest, but half the school is so maybe that is it. What I like the best is Property. My teacher there is old school, even though he looks pretty young. He pushes the class and has no tolerance for gunners, that is awesome. As long as you are prepared, you are fine. So far I have been too scared to not prepare. Least is tougher. Probably the legal writing class. It seems more about learning to write like your professor wants you to. I suppose that is what practice will be like at first, so maybe it is a good skill to learn. It just isn't as interesting as my other classes.
The social environment is great. People actually hang out with each other. There is a softball league that half the school plays in, that is fun. Beer Dart's on Wednesday, that is cool too. The SBA throws some parties on the weekends. The downtown Champaign bars are fun enough, and it is cheap to live here. So far so good.
