Addendum for open container ticket

I am planning on writing an addendum for the open container ticket I got in college since I had to appear in court.  I have the court docs, do I need to attach them with the addendum?  Also, in the addendum do I only need to give background on what happened or should I also talk about how it was an isolated incident that happened six years ago?
