I'm still curious to see their no-offer rate in other offices, only Chicago seems to be widely discussed and they have many other offices. Regardless, they could have handled it a lot better and this will probably impact their recruiting. They are not the only firm to do no-offers this summer, so everyone who is summering next year should really be on their guard and work hard. It is possible that in a lot of firms the days of 100% offers are over.

The economy sucks.  Why is anyone surprised?  I have always found it weird that people who did a mediocre job during the summer (and who have no common sense) were given offers most of the time and left to crash and burn when they started "real" work at the firm.

I find it very hard to believe that number of people in their SA class were totally incompetent, or that a firm could tell someone's true potential based on the kind of work SA's are given.

It doesn't suck because every SA deserves an offer--definitely not. But the system is set up in a way that makes it extremely difficult for 3L's to get other offers, regardless of how hard they worked during the summer, or how smart or capable they are. The whole system is really odd.

Gotta keep up with the news.  Foley now has offered to about 80-something percent of the class.  After the ATL post, Foley said "oh, we were just in the middle of giving offers."  But I heard one girl at my school say she got explicitly no-offered and THEN got offered after the ATL post.

So Foley would have definitely screwed everyone if nobody had been watching.

They're still screwed.  They had to do 3L OCI and explain their no-offers...and now they have offers that they probably shouldn't take and OCI is over so they're forced to either take Foley or do a mail campaign.
