If you dont get offer after summer associate

My son is summer associate in big law firm in NYC.Last year he got multiple offers for summer associates. He will probably get an offer for associate for next year, but suppose he does not. What would you do.
Call the Law firm that he declined before or go for another OCI.Any comments.

Well, first of all, it is your son who should be asking these kinds of questions, not you. Secondly, the answer actually depends on specific facts that only your son would know - what contributed to his not getting an offer, did any of the firms he interviewed with last year tell him to reapply the following year, what does his school's career services center suggest, etc. This issue should be solved by your son, not by you. Your involvement in his job search (beyond simply giving him advice) will do more harm than good.

its not that he did not get an offer, no one has got an offer.

parents are way too involved in their childrens lives... there was a segment about this on NPR the other day with parents actually going on job interviews with the kids.  crazy.

My answer was in response to your question of what happens *in case* he does not receive an offer. And my answer was that your son needs to handle that, not you.

And if your son is concerned about not getting an offer, he's a big boy, he can come on the site himself or go visit his career services office on his own, etc.

I am not helicopter pilot/parent
I can fly Cessna or similar aircraft but not helicopter. Having said that, my son is very hard working from ivy school and busy, has no time for this, and being old man, I have some time to play with.
